Terms of Use and Software License

Last updated: October 16, 2026. Version 2026-10-09.

These terms apply to the app.broad.tools website, to your BroadTools account and to every BroadTools app, both the ones you install on a computer and the ones that open in the browser. They are provided by BroadTools (Broadtools Ltda, CNPJ 69.442.064/0001-49), with its registered office at Curitiba/PR, Brazil. Read them together with the Privacy Policy and the Cancellation and Refund Policy, which are part of these terms. This is a translation: if the two versions differ, the Portuguese version prevails.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account, activating an app or completing a purchase, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the apps or the website.

If you use BroadTools on behalf of a company, you confirm that you can accept these terms for it. In that case, "you" means you and the company.

You must be 18 or older and legally able to enter into a contract to create an account.

2. Your account

  • Give accurate information and keep the account email up to date: keys, renewal notices and password reset links are sent there.
  • Your password is personal. You are responsible for what is done with your account and with the team users you create (sign-in as name.alias).
  • Suspect misuse? Change the password in My licenses and tell support@broad.tools.
  • Do not create extra accounts to repeat the free trial or the first purchase discount.

3. License to use

The apps are licensed, not sold. A purchase gives you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for the term of the plan. The software, the code and the brand remain BroadTools property.

Desktop apps

Proteus Switcher, Over Timer, PDF Presenter, Sightline Prompter, Boxset Layouts and Phantom Presenter are activated with a key.

  • 1 computer per key at a time. For more computers, one key for each.
  • To move to another computer, release the current one in My licenses (or in the app itself) and activate the key on the new one. You can do up to 2 moves every 30 days yourself; beyond that, ask support.
  • Once activated, the app runs for up to 30 days without internet. After that, it needs internet to confirm the license.

Browser apps

Corvus Intercom, RF Manager, Rune Captioner, CalcLED and PatchPlanner open with your account email and password. The plan sets how many team members can use the app at the same time, including the account owner.

What is not allowed

  • Copying, distributing or publishing the software, the installers or the keys.
  • Using the same key on more than one computer at the same time, or sharing account access beyond the number of people in the plan.
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling or disassembling the software, except where the law expressly allows it.
  • Bypassing, disabling or changing the license check, the trial clock, the session limit or the watermark.
  • Reselling, renting, sublicensing or offering the license to third parties without written permission from BroadTools.

Using the apps to provide technical services at your clients' events and broadcasts is allowed: that is what they are for. What you cannot do is pass the license on.

Some third party components have their own license, which applies to them. For example, Rune Captioner is based on Web Captioner, by Curt Grimes, under the MIT license.

4. Plans, payment and renewal

  • Monthly: a credit card subscription that renews every month until you cancel.
  • Yearly: in Brazil, a one-time payment (card, Pix or boleto) that does not renew by itself; you renew from your account whenever you want. Outside Brazil, through Stripe, it renews automatically every year on your card until you cancel.
  • Lifetime license (only for PDF Presenter and Sightline Prompter): one-time payment, see below.
  • For browser apps with tiers, the price depends on the number of people (seats).

Cancelling

You can cancel the renewal at any time in My licenses, under Edit plan. The plan stays active until the end of the period already paid and there is no new charge. Refunds follow the Cancellation and Refund Policy.

When the plan expires

  • Monthly and yearly plans have a 3 day grace period after expiry, for late payments.
  • Desktop apps: after that, the app goes back to trial mode, with its limits (such as 20 minutes of use or a watermark), or asks for renewal, until you renew. Your files stay on your computer.
  • Browser apps: access through the account ends until you renew. Data saved in the account stays stored, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Corvus Intercom: so that a live event is not cut off, the intercom keeps working for 24 hours after expiry, with a notice in the panel and an email to the account owner. During that time, only the stations that were already connected can reconnect. After 24 hours, the intercom shuts down until you renew.
  • A license suspended because of a refund, payment dispute or breach of these terms stops immediately, with no grace period.

Lifetime license

  • You pay once and use the version you have with no time limit.
  • It includes the updates released within 12 months of the purchase. Versions released after that period do not open with this license: you keep using the last version released within the period.
  • As with the other plans, the app confirms the license over the internet at least every 30 days.
  • Lifetime means no time limit for use. It does not mean unlimited technical support or guaranteed compatibility with future versions of Windows or other software.

5. Prices, payment and taxes

  • The price is the one shown on each app page at the time of purchase. In Brazil, in reais, through Mercado Pago (card, Pix and boleto; boleto only above a minimum amount). Outside Brazil, in US dollars, through Stripe, by card. Amounts shown in other currencies are estimates at the day's rate; you are charged in US dollars.
  • Card details go straight to Mercado Pago or Stripe. BroadTools never sees or stores your card number.
  • For purchases from outside Brazil, local taxes, currency conversion and bank or card fees are your responsibility.
  • We may change prices. A change does not affect the period you have already paid. For subscriptions, we notify you by email before charging a new price at renewal, and you can cancel before that.
  • The license is released when the payment is approved. If a renewal charge is declined and not paid, the plan expires.
  • Invoices and billing questions: financeiro@broad.tools.

6. Free trial

  • Paid apps have a free trial, no card needed. The length and limits are on each app page (for example: 7 days with the full app, 20 minute sessions in the online apps or export blocked).
  • One trial per account and per app. For desktop apps, also one trial per computer.
  • For desktop apps, the trial key unlocks the full app, including for use at an event. Without a key, they open in trial mode, for 20 minutes with a watermark (or a notice bar), except Corvus Intercom.
  • Nothing is charged when the trial ends. To keep using the app, choose a plan.

7. Partner codes

  • A partner code gives a discount only on the first purchase of each account, only for the apps it covers and only while it is active and valid.
  • On the monthly plan, the discount applies only to the first month. After that, the subscription continues at full price.
  • A code cannot be combined with other discounts, exchanged for cash or applied to a past purchase.
  • We may end a code at any time without changing purchases already made with it. Fraudulent use (for example, accounts created to repeat the discount) cancels the discount.
  • If a purchase is refunded, we return the amount actually paid.

8. Acceptable use

When using the website and the apps, you agree not to:

  • use the apps for anything illegal, or to send content that is unlawful, offensive or infringes other people's rights through Corvus Intercom, Rune Captioner or the Over Timer live link;
  • try to access other customers' accounts, intercoms or data;
  • attack, overload or test the security of the servers without permission, or automate sign-ups or access;
  • present or broadcast content you do not have the rights to. The presentations, videos, music, scripts and texts you use in the apps are your responsibility.

The links you share (Corvus Intercom stations and open entry, the Rune Captioner OBS/vMix link, the Over Timer live link) give access to anyone who has them. Share them only with people who need them and create a new link when needed.

9. Availability, support and updates

  • We make our best effort to keep the website and the apps running, but there is no guarantee of continuous availability and no service level agreement (SLA). Maintenance and failures may happen.
  • Browser apps depend on the internet and on our servers. Desktop apps, once activated, run for up to 30 days without internet.
  • Support by email at support@broad.tools, in order of arrival, with no guaranteed response or fix time. We use an AI assistant to prepare draft replies, which a person reviews before sending (see the Privacy Policy).
  • Test before the event. Install, activate and test the app well in advance, on the same computer, operating system, network and equipment that will be used, and make sure the license is valid beyond the event date.
  • We may improve, change or remove features and apps. If a paid app is discontinued, we give advance notice, and the period already paid for subscriptions remains valid or is refunded proportionally.

10. Limitation of liability

We work to make the apps reliable, but no software is free of faults. The apps support live events and broadcasts, where equipment, network, power, operating system or third party software failures can happen. You are responsible for having a backup plan: spare equipment, a local copy of the content and another way to display, time and communicate if something stops.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BroadTools is not liable for lost profits, loss of revenue, contracts or opportunities, penalties with your clients, costs of a rescheduled event, indirect damages, or loss of data you did not back up. Nor is it liable for failures caused by third parties (internet, power, Windows, PowerPoint, drivers, NDI, payment gateways) or by use outside these terms.

Where there is liability, it is limited to the amount you paid BroadTools in the 12 months before the event that caused it.

Nothing here removes the rights that the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code (CDC) gives consumers, or limits liability for willful misconduct or gross negligence. If you are a consumer, the limits above apply only as far as the law allows.

11. Intellectual property and third party trademarks

  • The software, the website, the BroadTools brand, the icons and the texts belong to BroadTools or to those who licensed them to it. These terms do not transfer any of those rights.
  • Your content is yours: presentations, scripts, planners, RF events and settings. You give us only the permission needed to store and process that content to provide the service.
  • Suggestions you send may be used to improve the apps, with no obligation to pay.
  • PowerPoint, Windows and Edge (Microsoft), NDI (Vizrt), Resolume, Bitfocus Companion, ATEM (Blackmagic Design), Stream Deck (Elgato), Chrome and Google Slides (Google), Canva, OBS Studio, vMix, Mercado Pago, Stripe and the other product names mentioned on the website are trademarks of their respective owners. They are mentioned only to show compatibility; BroadTools is not affiliated with or sponsored by them.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end a license or account in case of a breach of these terms, fraud, a refund or payment dispute, use that puts the service or other customers at risk, or an order from an authority. Where possible, we warn you first and give you time to fix it. In serious cases, such as illegal copying or fraud, suspension is immediate and there is no refund, except for the rights guaranteed by law.

You can stop using the service and ask for your account to be deleted at any time, as explained in the Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date and version at the top change with each update. Relevant changes are announced by email or on the website at least 15 days in advance, except those required by law or for security. A change does not alter the price or conditions of a period you have already paid. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Brazilian law.

If you are a consumer, the courts of your place of residence have jurisdiction. In all other cases, the courts of the district where BroadTools has its registered office (Curitiba/PR) have jurisdiction.

Before taking any action, contact us at contato@broad.tools: most problems are solved by email.

These terms exist in Portuguese and English. If they differ, the Portuguese version prevails.
