CalcLED

From LED wall size to processor, on one screen

Enter width, height and pitch. CalcLED shows the real resolution, power, weight and how many ports the processor needs. Free with your account, on a phone or a computer.

Who it is for

  • LED techs

Check resolution, ports and circuits before you hang the first cabinet.

  • Video and content operators

Get the real wall resolution and set the switcher input right.

  • Rental and production companies

Estimate power, weight and processor during the site survey, on your phone.

The real wall resolution, before you make the content

Width and height in meters, pitch in one tap. The resolution shows up right away, with a drawing of the wall and its measurements.

  • Pitch from P1.5 to P10, or any other in millimeters
  • Total pixels, area, aspect ratio and pixels per meter
  • Wall drawing to scale, with width and height
  • Your values are saved for the next time you open it

Try it with your wall. The math is the same as in the app.

How many circuits does the wall need? The math is done for you

Choose the cabinet and CalcLED counts how many fit in the wall. Weight and power draw per cabinet come prefilled from the pitch, and you replace them with the spec sheet values. Good for the conversation with the electrical and rigging crews.

  • 500×500, 500×1000, 640×480, 960×960, 600×337.5 or any other cabinet size
  • Weight and power draw per cabinet, editable
  • Peak power in kW and W, with the math shown
  • Current and 20 A circuits at 127, 220 or 380 V three-phase

Can the processor handle it? Find out before you get to the event

Pick the processor brand and model and see how many ports and units the wall needs, with redundancy included.

  • NovaStar, Colorlight and Brompton, with the source of each data sheet
  • No redundancy, port backup, processor backup or both
  • NovaStar H line: chassis with RJ45 and fiber output cards
  • A note when the model data sheet does not confirm a value

The switcher input at the right aspect ratio

Leave one of the four fields blank. The cross-multiplication works out the missing value, no paper and no calculator.

  • Output and input width and height, in pixels
  • Any of the four fields can be the one calculated
  • Clear fields with one tap

On your phone, in the sun and with no signal

During the site survey, CalcLED opens in your phone browser. After the first visit, it works offline.

  • Sign in with your BroadTools account email
  • Works offline after the first visit
  • Light theme for reading in the sun. Dark theme for the control booth
  • The same app on phone and computer

What changes in your wall math

In a spreadsheet or on a phone calculator, every number is a separate calculation. In CalcLED, everything comes from width, height and pitch.

Questions from LED crews

Is it really free?

Yes. Sign in with your BroadTools account email, with no license key and no usage limit. The account is free too.

Does it work offline?

Yes, after the first visit with internet. The values you entered stay saved on the device.

Are the power and weight values exact?

The defaults are not: they are the market average for the pitch at that cabinet size. Replace them with the weight and max power draw from the manufacturer spec sheet and the math uses your values.

My pitch is not on the list. What now?

Tap Other and type the pitch in millimeters. Resolution and processor are calculated. For power and weight, enter the cabinet weight and power draw.

Which processors does it calculate?

NovaStar, Colorlight and Brompton, with the source of each data sheet. For NovaStar, also the H line: H2, H5, H9, H15 and H20 chassis, with RJ45 and fiber output cards.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. CalcLED opens in the browser on a phone or computer, with the same sign-in.
